Keep your upper body and head over the centerline of the boat as you swing your hips from side to side. Start off by tipping the boat just a little back and forth, side to side. Staying flexible as the boat moves in the water is the key to maintaining balance. Most kayaks are very stable, as long as you keep your balance. Leaning out over the side of the boat with your upper body is an easy way to turn over.
