Hok-Si-La earns a place in this book not only for the roomy, spacious campsites but for the unique policy the campground employs for access to their sites. When you drive up to your campsite you''d better attend to unloading all your gear as soon as you can because, after 15 minutes, you have to remove your car from the campground. Vehicles must be parked outside the security gate during your stay and can only be brought back in when it''s time to leave. Upon parking, you hike back into to your site, the farthest being 0.2 miles from the lot. You also have a choice of using a cart to haul your camping gear in and out of camp, or as a means of transporting groceries or other items purchased during your stay. At Hok-Si-La, though, the serenity is worth the short trek.
