FROM THE CRITICS
School Library Journal
Gr 6-9In the summer of 1995, Andre Agassi rose to the top of the tennis ranks after an up-and-down career that included winning Wimbleton in `92, the U.S. Open in `94, and the Australian Open in `95. This book details his childhood as a tennis player pushed by his father, his teen years in a private tennis school, and his professional career that began when he was 15 years old. Agassi's popularity and financial success and how they influenced his professional performance are also documented. However, his current competitions and recent marriage to Brooke Shields dated this book before it was even published. This is a bland, straightforward account of a dynamic performer. Black-and-white action photographs of the star as well as many of his opponents are included.Judie Porter, Media Services Center, Portsmouth School Department, RI
