FROM THE CRITICS
Jacqueline Streid
The fourth edition of the ASCP Study Guide includes guidelines for preparing and taking tests, multiple choice questions with answer keys, and a DOS-based computer disk for IBM-compatible systems. This study guide will help prepare MT and MLT students for certification exams in the areas of blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, body fluids, and management. The use of this guide is ideal for directors of CLS programs, faculty, and the examinee. The authors and numerous reviewers are established and credible in their respective fields of study. The visual materials are clearly illustrated, which is an improvement over previous editions. The graphs and charts depicted in the book are in black-and-white, and color photographs are used selectively on the computer disk. There are approximately 2,000 questions on the computer disk with each practice test administering 50 questions. Upon completion of the test, each question can be reviewed a second time, with the correct answer being shown at the end. I highly recommend this new edition for an examinee preparing to take certification exams. The book will provide practical hands-on experience for taking a comprehensive written and/or computerized certification exam. The references for this book are current but limited to selected content areas.
