These poetic portraits are truthful, sometimes tinged with black humour, other times political. Sue Nevill's people break through the flat, artificial surfaces of typical portraits and give us colourful, three-dimensional views of their unexpected natures. Sue Nevill has the usual eclectic writerly background: jobs in advertising, archeological mudpits, bars, berry fields and book shops; obsessions that range from baseball to opera. Her poetry and short fiction have been appearing in Canadian, British and U.S. magazines since 1987. A long-time resident of Vancouver, Nevill works as a freelance writer and editor.
