About the Author
Donald J. Leopold is Distinguished Teaching Professor at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry, State University of New York, Syracuse, where he has won numerous teaching awards and researches the ecology of old-growth forests and wetlands, the biology of rare plant species, and the biodiversity and restoration of ecosystems. His public presentations on gardening with native plants are enthusiastically attended. He is author of Trees of the Central Hardwood Forests of North America: An Identification and Cultivation Guide and numerous other contributions on plants.
