FROM THE CRITICS
Louis Yates
This is a nice review and update of cervical pathology and colposcopy from the first two editions that were published 1984 and 1988. This book is intended to update changes and review colposcopy and cervical pathology, and it does so in a wonderful fashion. Every gynecologist from the resident level and above would benefit from this book. Cervical histology is reviewed in an excellent section of large color photography that illustrates normal and abnormal cervical findings. Techniques of evaluation and management are discussed. However, LEEP is not given enough treatment. References seem old, but much of the basic work has not changed. This is one of the best books on the subject I have seen. The presentation and pictures are marvelous. The text could be better, but it is hard to teach or learn colposcopy from a book of this nature. The value is in the number and quality of the pictures and these are among the best I've seen, better than Colposcopy Text and Atlas by Burke (1990), or the second edition of this book.

Booknews
New edition of a textbook/manual, fully illustrated in b&w and color, that incorporates basic principles and detailed descriptions of colposcopic images. Three of the 21 chapters are devoted to basic histopathologic principles and are written so that previous understanding of the subject is not required. Consideration is next given to the consequences of the colposcopic and histologic findings, i.e. the histopathologic evaluation of the colposcopically abnormal cervix and vulva.
