If you have ever back-checked during the breakaway while being slashed and speared just in time to see some razzle dazzle, then you probably don't need this book. On the other hand, if you have no idea what those words mean, then this is the book for you. Foley does a wonderful job of not only telling, but also showing through excellent photographs, exactly what occurs in the game of hockey. Easy definitions and scenarios support lingo and strategies. This is truly a game that has rules that few people know or understand. It can be hard to become a fan of a complicated game. Hockey teams should provide this text at their games so new fans can follow and learn to appreciate this sport. Part of the "Play by Play" series. 2000, Lerner, . Ages 10 up. Reviewer: Scott S. Floyd
