FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - Susan Fournier
Moose are extremely interesting creatures. Did you know that the moose is the biggest member of the deer family? Millions of years ago moose were the size of a cat, but over the years they have grown to more than six feet tall. DuTemple presents many interesting facts about moose and their habitats. The information is well organized so the reader is guided through the text in much the same way a teacher would guide an inquiring student. Important vocabulary is introduced in the beginning of the book, challenging the reader to find their meanings as the book is read. The vivid photographs correspond perfectly with the text. The information is organized into chapters and the text includes a table of contents, a glossary, an index, and a guide for adults on how to share the book with children. Part of the "Early Bird Nature Book" series; Moose would be an excellent addition to any library or personal collection.
