Popcorn Plants (Early Bird Nature Books) - Book Review,
by Kathleen V. Kudlinski, Jerome Wexler (Illustrator)

From School Library Journal Gr 2-4-These informative titles describe the characteristics and environment of a particular plant or animal. Each one begins with a list of words that readers are asked to locate in the text as they make their way through the book. The narratives consist of one to two simply written paragraphs on each page accompanied by clear, full-color close-ups that reveal how the plant or animal lives. Illustrations are used sparingly and only where photographs are insufficient to clarify the point being made, e.g., to show the process of pollination. A note for adults recommends ways to use the book, specific questions to ask to ensure that children understand the ideas presented, suggestions on "Introducing the Index," and a few activities.-Lisa Wu Stowe, Great Neck Library, NYCopyright 1999 Cahners Business Information, Inc.
