This author has chosen an interesting and exciting topic and presented the facts. All the sources are secondary, the pictures are mostly humdrum, and the reader gets very little insight into what Monica Seles's life has really been like. The broad outlines of her fabulous tennis career are listed; the stabbing by a man in the crowd during a match in 1993 is described. Then, the emotional difficulties that prevented her from returning to the professional tour for over two years are set down. Ms. Seles has had such fabulous success as a tennis player. This book could have told us what it is like to play in a Grand Slam final. It could have told us how much work is involved in creating an unbeatable game. It could have discussed the many pressures a number one player has to deal with. Instead, we just get the facts and a glossary and an index.
