FROM THE CRITICS
School Library Journal
Gr 4-7-This series entry receives high marks for organization; page layout; and helpful, country-specific Web sites. The well-outlined table of contents provides quick and easy access to information under bordered subject headings. Interest is immediately piqued by an engaging overview of current affairs. A thorough discussion of the land, history and government, people, cultural life, and economy follows. The text is straightforward without being dry and provides ample facts for reports. Plenty of color and black-and-white photographs are sprinkled throughout. Though the information is timely, the series Web site keeps readers abreast of news items and current events. This title is an exciting revision of the previous edition (1997) by Joel Reuben in the "Visual Geography Series," making it an exemplary addition to geography collections.-Ajoke' T. I.
