FROM THE CRITICS
School Library Journal
Gr 5-8 Lerner has taken over the series previously published by Sterling, using some of the information and the same basic format, but revising and updating the data and including color photos and charts as well as excellent maps. The reading level is slightly higher now, but this remains the series of choice about Third World countries. Each volume has a long (about 30 pages) chapter on history and government which places the country in its modern context, and chapters on ``The People'' and ``The Economy'' will give students a thorough picture of modern life in each country.
