...this brief volume is successful...in providing a quick overview of the field. The introduction to the book...provides an excellent synopsis of a complex subject...a chronological list of human rights events of the twentieth century...broadly surveys notable human rights occurrences...[no comparable volume] contains the compilation of human rights grassroots and governmental organizations found in Gorman and Milhalkanin...while the dictionary would be an asset for any reference collection, it should also be viewed as a basic primer for the student of human rights..
