Historical Dictionary of Guinea, Vol. 16 FROM THE PUBLISHER
The relatively free presidential election held in 1993 marked a turning point in Guinea history. This third editionone of the only readily available reference books on Guineafills the information gap which has existed since the death of the country's first president, Ahmed Sekou Toure, to the present. Based on both Western and Guinean sources, this book gives a balanced view of this poorly understood yet potentially viable African state. Reviews of the Previous Edition: "Will prove handy for researchers, historians, journalists, teachers, politicians, and economists. For English speakers, the collection is a double blessing as this is the first time such a source of information on the French speaking countries is presented to them in their own language." WEST AFRICA "...a valuable addition to Africanist reference collections." INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF AFRICAN HISTORICAL STUDIES
