Author Biography: Richard Andrew Lobban, Jr. is Professor of Anthropology and African Studies at Rhode Island College where he served as Director, Program of African and Afro-American Studies. Robert Kramer is Associate Professor of History at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, where he teaches courses on Africa and the Middle East. Carolyn Fluehr-Lobban is Professor of Anthropology and Director of General Education at Rhode Island College.
