Grade 5-8-A collection of 73 experiments presented with enthusiasm and humor. Those on light include spectra, reflection, and refraction. The principles of sound are explored through experiments with vibration, pitch, and resonance. Many of the experiments, such as those involving a grass whistle or creating a rainbow with a mirror in a tray of water, will be familiar. However, the author expands on these initial concepts and explains the scientific principles behind them. Clear, serviceable black-and-white cartoons appear throughout. Further exploration is invited through a series of questions labeled "Check It Out." Safety and caution are emphasized in the introductory matter.
