It's the final season of Chip's high school football career, and things don't look too rosy for the Big Red team. Coach Rockwell is in a hospital battling for his life, and the substitute coach, Tom Brasher, has plans of his own for Chip Hilton and his teammates. Coach Brasher conspires with sportswriter Muddy Waters and Mayor Condon to tear down everything the team has worked for all season. He destroys "The Rock's" plays, disregards school spirit, and even throws Chip off the team. But Valley Falls' star player has an asset that even Brasher can't stamp out: strong determination. In a moral scrimmage between the kids and the conspirators, Chip must focus all his energies on the game to overthrow Brasher's tyranny and keep the Big Red team pulling together for victory.
