Cambodian Culture Since 1975: Homeland and Exile (Asia East By South Series) - Book Review,
by May M. Ebihara, et al

From Library Journal With a civil war (1970-75) followed by the holocaust of the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-79), in which over one million people died, many Khmer fled Cambodia. This work contains ten essays on diverse topics related to Khmer culture in its broadest meaning. Since most of the refugee communities have hardly had time to establish roots, this book, in many respects, is premature. While the Khmer are adapting to change, the process of acculturation is still occurring. Thus, one should not consider the essays here to define current Khmer culture as manifested outside of Cambodia.Donald Clay Johnson, Univ. of Minnesota Lib., MinneapolisCopyright 1994 Reed Business Information, Inc.
