The authors succeed in presenting a broad look at the world's religions for young students while acknowledging that such a subject is not easily covered. The suggestions of Internet links throughout the book offer access to more information for those doing further study. This approach, combining the written word with the complementary electronic information, is a logical way to present a subject to today's children who will usually turn first to their computers when doing research. Recommendations for safety on the net are included and the publisher maintains a Web site offering an updated list of sites as well as direct links to all the sites mentioned in the book. The first chapter is titled, "What is Religion?" and is followed by chapters detailing many of the world's religions in a detached way. Local and past religions are also touched upon while a "Map of Religions" and "Time Chart" appear in the back of the book. This is a valuable resource in a time when the need for understanding the differences and similarities of various religious beliefs and customs is as important as it has ever been.
