She has been a broadcast and print journalist for over twenty years and is the author of Our Little Black Book of Shopping Secrets and the New York on $__ a Day Series. She is a contributing editor at Family Circle magazine and writes for many other publications.

Joan and her husband Morton, a communications attorney and photographer, have two children, Elizabeth and John.

Sharon Watts spent ten years illustrating for the "By Design" fashion column in the New York Times. She lives in Brooklyn with her two cats, Una and Rufus.
