History of Nonprescription Product Regulation - Book Reviews,
by W. Steven Pray
History of Nonprescription Product Regulation SYNOPSIS Having written a textbook for pharmacy students on the subject Pray (pharmacy, Southwestern Oklahoma State U.) here offers a guide to his specialty, nonprescription products and devices, from a legal perspective. He recounts legislative battles in the US government from before 1800 to the 1990s to regulate such products as predatory patent medicines, narcotics, cosmetics, homeopathy, and dietary supplements. Many of the acts he describes moved the boundary between prescription and over-the-counter products. Annotation ©2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
