About the Author Cathy H. C. Hsu, PhD, is Associate Professor of Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management, and Dietetics at Kansas State University. She has researched the impacts of riverboat, race track, and Native American casinos since 1991, when the first riverboat casinos started operation in Iowa. Her articles have been published in several professional journals, such as Gaming Research and Review Journal, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, and the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education. A member of the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators, Asia Pacific Tourism Association, and the Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, Dr. Hsu also serves on the editorial boards of Pacific Tourism Review and the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, among others. She is currently researching residents' perception of riverboat gaming and its impact on community quality and casino customers' attitudes and behaviors toward gaming.
