Tax Policy: Analysis of Certain Potential Effects of Extending Federal Income Taxation to Puerto Rico FROM THE PUBLISHER Section 933 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (IRC) provides that income derived from sources within Puerto Rico by an individual who is a resident of Puerto Rico generally will be excluded from gross income & exempt from U.S. taxation, even if such resident is a U.S. citizen. It does not exempt residents of Puerto Rico from paying federal income taxes on U.S. source income & foreign source income. This report presents information on potential consequences of extending the income tax provisions of the federal IRC to residents of Puerto Rico.
