This is the third edition of a compendium of commonly encountered radiological patterns. The text nicely organizes differential diagnoses of specific patterns into tables with accompanying images. This new edition adds more ultrasound, CT, and MR imaging, and replaces dated images found in the second edition published in 1992. This book remains a reference for interpreting commonly encountered radiological patterns by radiology residents and practicing radiologists. Dr. Eisenberg has updated this edition to reflect the expanded role of cross-sectional imaging in daily practice. The additional 206 pages help meet the demand for patterns commonly encountered in ultrasound, CT, and MR imaging. The book is written for all practicing radiologists as well as radiology residents. Fourth-year radiology residents will find this extremely helpful in preparing for the oral boards. Other clinicians who are reviewing more x-rays in the changing healthcare system may also find this text a resource. The format has remained the same with an index to each section, followed by the pattern differential table with the associated ""classic image"" for each entity if available. The information provided in the tables is concise. The radiographs are well reproduced and edited appropriately to save valuable space. References are provided at the end of each section should the reader need a more comprehensive review. This radiology differential text remains unique in providing not only differential lists, but differential lists with a brief description and radiograph of nearly every entity described. Yet, the book remains one manageable volume! I believe this new edition will quickly replace the secondedition as a standard reference in all diagnostic radiology departments. The new edition continues to be clear, concise, and well organized, with the requested updated and expanded cross-sectional imaging modalities.
