Gun Control: The Pros and Cons - Book Review,
by Tom Streissguth

From Booklist Gr. 6-9. This balanced account in the Hot Issues series outlines the long history of attempts to both pass and block effective gun control legislation. The major points by both sides are presented clearly and concisely, with particular emphasis on the historical background of the arguments. Most libraries probably have material that covers the gun control debate. But this has the advantage of being up-to-date, following the issue through the 2000 presidential election. The illustrations are sparse and occasionally random, particularly the maps. But the tables, listing regulations governing gun control in each state, are particularly helpful, as is the balanced list of Web sites and the glossary of gun-related terms.
