The official statement by the Society, a nonprofit organization of physicians and other health care providers based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Specialists in the various areas synthesize best practice for such aspects of wilderness medicine and health as evacuation, CPR, animal attacks, orthopedic injuries, water purification, botanical encounters, and heat-related illness. There is no index, but the chapters are only a few pages long. The CiP data and cover show the second edition with the first in 1995; Forgey says the fifth, with the most recent in 1995.
