Specialists in the various areas synthesize best practice for such aspects of wilderness medicine and health as evacuation, CPR, animal attacks, orthopedic injuries, water purification, botanical encounters, and heat-related illness. There is no index, but the chapters are only a few pages long. The CiP data and cover show the second edition with the first in 1995; Forgey says the fifth, with the most recent in 1995.
