FROM THE CRITICS
Library Journal
The National Parks and Conservation Association (NPCA) and Globe Pequot Press have teamed together to compile a series of guides to the National Parks of the United States. The series comprises eight books, each of which covers a geographical region of the United States and its territories. Each volume highlights several major parks, with contact information, brief descriptions, and directions for all the other parks, monuments, and military parks in the region. The entries on the featured parks include full-color Trails Illustrated (National Geographic) maps, dozens of color photographs, and more. A brief history of the NPCA is also included in each volume. The only disappointment is that more parks were not given full coverage. These books, used in conjunction with other travel guides, could become essential for anyone planning a vacation in a national park. An excellent addition to any library, both public and academic.--Sandra Knowles, Henderson Cty. P.L., Hendersonville, NC Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
