Environment, Development and Human Security: Perspectives from South Asia : Perspectives from South Asia - Book Reviews,
by Adil Najam
Environment, Development and Human Security: Perspectives from South Asia SYNOPSIS Arising out of a project of Sri Lanka's Regional Centre for Strategic Studies, these nine papers explore the connections between the environment and "nontraditional" forms of security (human as opposed to state security) Najam (international relations and environmental policy, Boston U.) first presents five country studies from the region, dealing with the possibilities of developing new security paradigms in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. He then presents three papers in turn exploring the issue of human security in relation to energy, land-use and food, and water resources. Najam also provides a summary conclusion penned by himself.
