Really Wild Pets: Crocodile ANNOTATION
Packaging a small bean-filled plush animal into a "house" on the front of a die-cut pop-up book, the Really Wild Pets series by Jill Newton imagines-in Penguin; Elephant; Giraffe; and Crocodile-the havoc that ensues when wild animals take a turn as household pets. The penguin ransacks the refrigerator for fish; an elephant makes herself a mudbath with dirt from houseplants; the giraffe gets a crick in her neck. At the end of each book, the prospective pet is out the door. Each animal is visible through both the book's front window and a side panel.
