Legal Perspectives on Cultural Resources (Heritage Resources Management Series) FROM THE PUBLISHER
Collection of original writings on legal aspects of cultural resources protection from practicing lawyers and judges.
SYNOPSIS
At the March 2002 meeting of the Society for American Archaeology in Denver, anthropologists and lawyers gathered to share their knowledge and insights on the current status of laws to protect cultural resources. The 13 papers published here look at enforcement and preservation, international issues, and repatriation. Among their topics are developing sentencing guidelines for cultural heritage resource crimes, export deregulation and the illicit trade in archaeological material, and whether the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act is constitutionally adequate.
