Servicing Videocassette Recorders: A Servicing Guide

FROM THE PUBLISHER

The first three editions of this book were well received by service engineers, technical college teaching staff and technically minded enthusiasts as a guide to VCR techniques. Confining itself to the principles and practice of domestic machines, and discussing them in depth, this book has quickly become established as a useful benchside reference and as an aid to students taking technical courses. Several new sections have been added to the fourth edition. A new part of the introduction covers the basic theory of magnetic recording and bandwidth, leading up to frequency modulation for video signals. Information on older systems, Philips N1500/N1700, Betamax and V2000 has been retained as these form the basis of 8mm and SOVHS. Most domestic videorecorders have some editing capabilities and a section on editing has been introduced. Advanced picture enhancement has been added to extend the theory of FM recording and replay and the concepts of signal processing.
