by Christina Fisanick (Editor), Scott Barbour (Editor)

From School Library Journal
Grade 9 Up–An excellent resource for reports and opinion papers. The introduction gives readers a thorough summary of the events that occurred in Rwanda in 1994, when an estimated 800,000 Rwandans were murdered. The book is divided into sections such as "Defining Genocide" and "The Killings Begin." Each chapter is comprised of essays that examine the subject from different points of view, the response of the international community, and rebuilding the country. Contributors consist of journalists, politicians, and nonprofit organizations. Prior to the essays, readers are given information about the authors and a summary of their main points and conclusions. A listing of the "Important Figures in the Rwanda Genocide" includes an explanation of each individual. Suggestions for further research consist of an extensive list of books, periodicals, and Web sites.–Marianne Fitzgerald, Severna Park High School, MD Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc.
