Reptiles FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - Nicole Peterson
Have you ever wondered what the inside of a crocodile's mouth looks like? Just look at the front cover of the book to find out. This compelling photograph and many more are found throughout the book. The sections in the book are as follows: the main body teaching about the animals, an "amazing but true" fact about a reptile, a chart comparing the creatures in the animal kingdom, a glossary, information on books and internet sites to use to learn more about reptiles, and an index at the end. This series "First Facts: Exploring the Animal Kingdom" is designed to teach about different traits of creatures in the animal kingdom. After reading about several of the types of animals found in these books children should be able to recognize to which animal kingdom various creatures belong. This series could be a great teaching aid for science classrooms, as the exciting layout, large fonts, big pictures, and interesting information will appeal to young children. 2005, Capstone Press, Ages 5 to 8.
