Energy FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - Nancy Partridge
The idea of energy is a challenge to explain to children who are just developing the capability of abstract thought. This book does a good job introducing potential and kinetic energy, electricity, and other related concepts. With child-oriented photographs, "Fun Facts" boxes, and "Amazing but True" pages, children will happily make their way independently through this complex but basic subject. Topping everything off is a hands-on experiment that demonstrates some of the ideas put forth in the book. With table of contents, glossary, index, and bibliography, the whole set of "Our Physical World" books will be a very useful research tool in the early elementary classroom and library. It's part of the "First Facts" series. 2005, Capstone Press, Ages 6 to 8.
