FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - John D. Orsborn
For many, the growth of skateboarding and the sport itself has a short history. However, Martin proves that wrong by outlining the beginning history and evolution of this extreme sport. One really fun thing is a page that has all the skateboarding slang from 1960s to 2000. For younger skaters and readers, this book is both informative and fun. One thing that sets this book apart from many of the others is that it focuses on one aspect of the skateboarding sport. By doing so the author and the series prevent younger readers from becoming overwhelmed by the information. With numerous photographs and clear and concise explanations this volume of the "Skateboarding" series is a great book about skateboarding and a good book for the reluctant or beginning reader. A glossary and pages of sources for further reading along with a list of Internet sites complete this book. 2002, Capstone Press, Ages 5 to 10.
