This manual is to be used as a reference in preparing for the Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Certification (GNP) examination. The purpose of this manual is to provide reference information and study materials to those preparing for the GNP certification examination. Given the purpose of this book, the target audience is advanced practice nurses who qualify to sit for the GNP certification examination. This book consists of 21 chapters, with the first chapter focusing on test taking strategies. The next 17 chapters address various organ systems. Each chapter is organized similarly, with test questions in the first half that address physical examination and diagnostic test information, with disorders and finally pharmacology. The second half of each of the chapters provides the answers to the questions with the reasoning behind the correct answers. The final three chapters address theory and research, issues and trends, and legal and ethical aspects. This book is very disappointing. First, neither author is a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. Second, if the rationale provided for the correct answer fails to clarify the situation, there are no additional resources provided for further elucidation of the topic. Not a single reference, let alone a bibliography, is included. Nor is there an index for specific topics. More importantly, the content I reviewed contained many inaccuracies and errors--hardly a desirable quality for preparing for a certification examination.
