FROM THE CRITICS

This is a well organized resource tool with a model of practice for nurses caring for patients undergoing invasive procedures. All phases of the perioperative experience are encompassed, and specific information related to the many surgical subspecialties is included. The purpose is to provide a guide and resource for experienced and inexperienced nurses in both the traditional perioperative setting and the other many venues in which invasive procedures are now performed. This book is intended for both experienced and inexperienced nurses who provide care for patients undergoing invasive procedures. It is a useful resource for staff nurses, student nurses, surgical technologists, and other perioperative personnel. Further, information useful to perioperative educators, managers, and directors is provided. The varied subspecialties surrounding invasive procedures are extremely well covered. There is a nice balance between text and illustrations. This book is full of extremely detailed information that would serve as a resource to novice nurses involved with invasive procedures. Some portions can be a fantastic resource for the more experienced nurse. As an experienced perioperative clinical educator with a background in cardiovascular procedures, I found the information regarding other surgical subspecialties extremely beneficial. Perioperative staff nurses who need additional information about a specific procedure will find this book to be an easy-to-read, concise resource. Further, members of management will find helpful tools related to regulatory agencies and finance.
