FROM THE CRITICS
Library Journal
More homeowners than ever before are choosing to expand or remodel their dwellings in lieu of moving to another residence. This book will be helpful to those who are considering upgrading their homes. It doesn't actually show readers how to do the work themselves, but it illustrates the possibilities. A variety of types of additions are covered (dormers, entire rooms, second stories, wings, etc.). Other sections cover house inspection, dealing with architects/ designers/builders, and general rules of design. It is well known that home additions are expensive, and some readers may be put off by this book's assumption that they have unlimited funds and can hire a variety of high-priced professionals. The homes pictured here are professionally decorated and luxurious; some readers will be inspired, others intimidated. However, most will be well served by this title, which offers a solid foundation at a very reasonable price. Recommended for most public libraries.-Jonathan Hershey, Akron Summit Cty. P.L., Ohio
