Buzz-Buzz, Busy Bees FROM OUR EDITORS
The Barnes & Noble Review
From the creators of Good Night, Sweet Butterflies comes this bee-autifully buzzing animal sounds and counting book! With fuzzy bees that disappear one by one with each turn of the page, this zippy read follows the smiley-faced insects as they talk with barnyard animals about being too busy for fun and games. After the bees zip away from a host of animals -- an oinking pig who wants them to have some fun, a horse who asks them to race through the grass, a cat who offers a game of peek-a-boo -- all of the animals gather to figure out why the bees are so busy. When readers turn the page, a buzzing sound (from the included sound chip) fills the air as they discover that the bees have been making honey and are finally ready to play. Sure to help kids identify animal sounds and learn counting, this bright, jovial book should keep them buzzing with delight as they touch the touch-and-feel bees and spot more objects in the pictures' backgrounds. A sweet read for your little honeys at home. Matt Warner

Buzz-Buzz, Busy Bees includes nine flocked bees die-cut through the cover and every page. But what are they so busy doing as they buzz above the pigs, horses, ducks, sheep, dogs, cats, and frogs on the farm? The answer is revealed on the last spread, which comes alive with a light-activated buzzing sound chip! This delightful book once again brings together the creators of Ten Little Ladybugs and Good Night, Sweet Butterflies in a story chock-full of animal sounds that readers will love to imitate, read, and listen to again and again.
FROM THE CRITICS
Publishers Weekly
What the team did for colors in their Good Night, Sweet Butterflies, they now do for sound in Buzz-Buzz, Busy Bees: An Animal Sounds Book by Dawn Bentley, illus. by Heather Cahoon. Beginning with nine bees, when each sturdy page is turned, a fuzzy bee, peeking through a die-cut hole, flits off the page. Various barnyard animals entreat the bees to stay, but the response is always the same: " `Oink-Oink!' says Pig. `Would you like to have some fun?' `Buzz-Buzz!' says Bee. `I really have to run!' " When the last page is turned, a cacophonous buzz greets readers. Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
This is an animal sounds book that buzzes when the last page is turned. Seen through holes in the cover are little plastic black-and-yellow ovals with bee heads and wings painted outside on the paper. Inside the book, each time a page is turned, one bee sculpture goes over, too, so on each succeeding page there is one less bee on the right hand page and one less hole on the left. One after another, animals asks the bees to stop and play, but the busy bees have too much work to do. However, all the bees appear on the last page, without their hard bodies, to play with all the animals. Because the pictures of the farm and farm animals are more appealing without the hard bee bodies and holes, the experience of touching the molded ovals would be the only reason to choose this book. 2004, Little Simon, Ages 1 to 3.
