(Oh my.)" sunglasses and snout, touch a turkey's bumpy comb, and more. At the end, Boynton's cheery last spread asks whether "you want to start over with the fuzzy fuzzy guy," but a pair of chicks (in lift-the-flap eggs) quarrel over the answer. Sandra Boynton's personable animals teach youngsters about textures as they beg to be touched in Fuzzy Fuzzy Fuzzy! A Touch, Skritch & Tickle Book. From a cow with tufty blue hair and a velvety pink nose, to a pig with shiny green sunglasses and a dog with "Rough/ rough/ rough" paw pads, these animals combine classic Boynton charm with a large touch-and-feel format. Dorothy Kunhardt's 1940 Pat the Bunny was the original interactive book for little ones. It was a bestseller and is still in print. Naturally it has spawned many, many near-clones. Sandra Boynton has made a small industry of the style herself, creating her "Very Silly Boynton Board Book" series. This, of course, is the latest. Almost four times the size of its ancestor, it also contains perhaps a quarter of the words. It does, however, have the nicely tactile surfaces that babies enjoy. In this case, it contains a soft-nosed cow, a sandpaper-pawed dog, a mirrored-sunglass-wearing pig, a rough-wattle turkey and a soft-bellied duck. Boynton's illustrations are big and bright, and the board book is sturdy enough to survive an entire orphanage. But Pat the Bunny still has more charm. 2003, Little Simon, Ages 1 to 3.
