In this enchanting novel, the third in "The Keepers" series, a wizard named Nell and her brother Owen fight to take the place of the Imperial Wizard, who has control over Eldearth. Someone must replace him before he dies, or the land will be destroyed by the evil Lord Graieconn. Nell and her brother soon realize that they must team up to defend the scepter and save Eldearth. The characters constantly conflict with each other and always battle over differences. Koller does a good job of portraying the fantasy world in this book. The descriptions of the land and people are so detailed that the reader will feel like part of the story. Fantasy fans will notice many similarities between Koller's novels and The Lord of the Rings and they will enjoy reading these stories, because they are full of fantasy and adventure. 2004, Aladdin Paperbacks, Ages 9 to 12.
