It's Bedtime, Wibbly Pig!

FROM OUR EDITORS

Mick Inkpen's sweet-natured porker gets ready for bed in this winsome picture book! Wibbly Pig has plenty to do before slumber time, such as taking a bath, finishing a story, brushing his teeth, and more. As readers (and the narrator) wonder what Wibbly's up to on each page, he answers with simple descriptions, until the last page: "Shall we turn out the light, Wibbly Pig? Wibbly Pig? Wibbly Pig? Are you asleep, Wibbly?" Inkpen's soft, adorable illustrations of his star -- along with easy-to-read text -- make this an ideal pick for before-bed sharing between parents and children; kids can enjoy cuddling up with this read themselves, too. A character whose positive, playful demeanor makes readers of all ages feel jubilant, Wibbly is one swine we can't get enough of.

FROM THE PUBLISHER

Wibbly, the cutest little toddler pig ever, is back -- and this time he's putting off bedtime as long as he can. FROM THE CRITICS

Children's Literature - Mary Loftus

Wibbly Pig does not want to go to bed, and that makes this story one many youngsters will relate to. The mischievous pig bathes, reads, has a drink, dawdles while brushing his teeth, and employs many other familiar stall tactics. Young readers will love the illustrations of Wibbly Pig taking his time on the toilet, drying his toes, and bouncing on the bed—his impish grin ever-present as he avoids the dreaded bedtime. Of course, once he is tucked in, it is not long before Wibbly Pig has drifted off to dreamland. Do not miss the fold-out picture at the end of Wibbly Pig on his way to sweet dreams with friends Pigley, Flop, and Dimple. The short, simple sentences make this book a good read-aloud, and the pace keeps moving, ever closer to bedtime. 2004, Viking/Penguin, Ages 4 to 8.
