Electrophysiologic Testing ANNOTATION
The book contains black-and-white illustrations.
FROM THE PUBLISHER
Electrophysiologic Testing demystifies an often complex subject and clarifies its role in the evaluation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Since the publication of the first edition in 1991, the field of electrophysiologic testing has evolved, especially in the ways this testing is used. This new edition reflects these changes and brings these topics to the forefront.
SYNOPSIS
"Extremely popular in previous editions, Electrophysiologic Testing, 3/e serves to "demystify" the field of electrophysiology."
FROM THE CRITICS
Stephen P. Prater
This second edition describes the value of electrophysiology in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The book reviews the basic principles of cardiac arrhythmias and the role of electrophysiology testing in the evaluation of tachy and bradyarrhythmias. The use and limitations of electrophysiologic (EP) testing as well as catheter ablation techniques are discussed. The purpose is to demystify the role of electrophysiology in the evaluation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The author is a well-known and respected electrophysiologist who succeeds in simplifying how the EP evaluation can aid in the diagnosis and management of complex arrhythmias. This book is intended for the nonelectrophysiologist who is likely to encounter patients with a cardiac arrhythmia. In essence, this book is intended for anyone and everyone treating patients. The book features concise and thorough reviews of basic electrophysiologic principles and clinically relevant discussions on the management of complex cardiac arrhythmias. Pertinent illustrations are used to clarify the text when necessary. Surface and intracardiac tracings, diagrams, and tables are very clear and well organized, making them easily understood and readily understandable. This is a very useful book that accomplishes its purpose of demystifying the role of electrophysiology in treating patients with cardiac arrhythmias. Since the publication of the first edition, we have used this book to educate cardiology fellows rotating through the EP service, and we believe it to be a valuable source of information. I would highly recommend this book to anyone treating patients with complex arrhythmias.

Booknews
Provides a summary of recent advances in the field and a guide to indications for and use of electrophysiologic testing in cardiology. This third edition includes new information on arrhythmias and their pharmacologic treatment, transcatheter ablation, the evaluation of syncope, and the prevention of sudden death. Written for non- electrophysiologists, such as students, primary care physicians, and technicians, who need a non-technical introduction. The author teaches medicine at Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, and directs the clinical electrophysiology division of cardiology at Allegheny General Hospital. Annotation c.
