About the Author Dr. Michael E. Whitman, CISSP is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia, where he is both the Director of the Masters of Science in Information Systems, and the founding Director of the KSU Center for Information Security Education and Awareness. In addition to having taught graduate and undergraduate courses in information security and data communications for more than 12 years, Dr. Whitman is a prolific researcher in information security policy, ethical and responsible use of IT, and IS research methodologies, with more than 60 published works in such prestigious venues as the Communications of the ACM, Information Systems Research, Information and Management, the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Computer Information Systems. During the past two years, Dr. Whitman has designed and implemented seven different courses in Information Security at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition to this text, he is has recently published Principles of Information Security available from Course Technology © 2003 with Herbert Mattord.
