Skateboarding - Book Review,
by Andy Horsley

From Booklist Reviewed with Jeri Freimuth's Extreme Skateboarding. Gr. 4-7. Packed with color photos, this title, in the To the Limit series, is slightly more comprehensive that Extreme Skateboarding by Jeri Freimuth (2001), with a busier layout. It offers history, visuals that label and discuss the board's parts, step-by-step photos of moves (including one dramatic wipe-out in the safety section), and brief mention of sponsorship for kids dreaming of becoming professionals. Although adequate for quick browsing, the book is extremely brief and will appeal most to children just starting out. Serious board enthusiasts, especially teens, can turn to Michael Brooke's Concrete Wave (1999), an excellent, detailed history and overview of the sport.
