New 35MM Photographer's Handbook: Everything You Need to Get the Most out of Your Camera - Book Review,
by Julian Calder

From School Library Journal YA-- Numerous concise chapters discuss virtually every aspect of photography. Topics range from those one would expect to find--cameras, lenses, filters, etc.--to some surprises, such as retouching, clothing for photographers, the slide show, etc. Everything is logically arranged and well explained. This compact and portable book is full of well-chosen photographic examples and clear diagrams. The boxed checkpoints make tips easy to locate outside the main narration. Beginning to average photographers will find much of interest and will improve their skills. Sections that are weak or nonexistent are color separations, gray scale, techniques of working in black and white, and developing. Few teens will have reached this level, however, so the book is still an excellent choice for YA collections.- Claudia Moore, W. T.
