FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - Mary Hamilton
Franklin loved belonging to clubs, so he decided to start his own. His hideaway only had room for Bear, Snail, and Rabbit, so after asking them to join his Secret Club, Franklin forgot about the rest of his friends. When Beaver asked to join the club, Franklin kindly explained to her that there was no more room. Feeling left out, Beaver started her own club and planned many exciting adventures. Soon Franklin, Bear, Snail, and Rabbit felt left out. They realized how Beaver must have felt. So they came up with a happy solution: Join the two clubs together! A great lesson for the young reader-things are more fun when everyone is included. Brenda Clark's colorful and realistic illustrations add to the appeal of the book.
