A boy's roof is leaking, and he watches the process as a crew of workers come to fix it.
FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
It is raining and the roof in this house has a few holes. The rain drips and drops. The family decides it needs a new roof. The workers come and remove the old shingles and replace them with new ones. The job is undertaken by a multicultural work crew that even includes a female worker. The young boy follows the progress and the author has described the action with limited and repetitive onomatopoeia. This young boy even provides a treat when the workers take a break "Pound, pound, pound," all day. Then the job is complete. When the next rainstorm comes the young boy enjoys looking out the window because "no drips/no drops" to worry about in this house.
