The author provides a basic introduction to the largest country in Western Europe. The chapters include the landscape, government, history, the people, art and culture, and the economy. The large font type and easy-to-read writing style make the book appealing to young readers. In addition, there are beautiful photos, colorful inserts and a map of France to keep the reader's interest. At the end of the book there is a glossary, an index, and a list of books and web sites for further research (children can take a 3-D tour of the Eiffel Tower, browse through more than three hundred museum rooms of the Louvre, and take a complete tour through the castle of Versailles).
